Click the link below to access an excerpt of the Battle of Panipat in the Baburnama, a primary source that details an integral battle at the start of the Mughal Empire in India.
Use the description from the Baburnama (the primary source) to draw a diagram of the Battle of Panipat. You will not be scored on your artistic ability. If all you can diagram are stick figures, this is acceptable. Use whatever materials that are at your disposal if you’d like, colored pencils, markers etc. If you’d rather not include any color, that’s fine too. Be creative, you have a lot of leeway with this.
After you create your diagram write a paragraph (at least 3 sentences) responding to the following prompt: Explain the technological factors that contributed to the growth of the Mughal Empire. After you read, on your own paper write a paragraph (4 to 6 sentences) that identifies and describes the historical context (the details that surround an occurrence, historical context refers to the social, religious, economic, and political conditions that existed during a certain time and place) for the developments described in the reading, essentially, the historical context behind the expansion of land based empires from 1450 to 1740. After reading, click the second link which contains a H.I.P.P.O document analysis. The H.I.P.P.O document analysis details skills to use when "sourcing" a document; that is examining a variety of factors about the author of the source and time period in which it was created to determine the source's limitations, and how the source could be used for interpretation and argumentation.
For the first four skills listed (historical context, intended audience, point of view, and purpose), describe how each may have affected a historian’s interpretation of the source (95 Theses) and list them in a paragraph on your own paper. Due Tuesday 10/28/25.
